Can a self-propelled cabin vehicle drive on only one railroad track without tipping over? This question was answered by the OWL University of Applied Sciences (Lemgo) as part of a research project.
The solution found is the MONOCAB self-propelled cabin. It travels stereo thanks to gyroscope technology: as a gyro-stabilized monorail.
The MONOCABs can run in continuous circulation like a paternoster – and can be ordered like cabs for individual trips to the village or the city. Simply via app, around the clock, 365 days a year. Individual, automated, on demand, as IPNV(IndividualPassenger Transport). So that people in rural areas become more mobile and independent.
For the presentation of the demonstrator made of sustainable materials on 03 October in Extertal, the seats for the mock-up were realized by us as project partner using molded parts made of wood with ash top layers. All seats are foldable to take other vehicle such as bicycles or wheelchairs.
The project is funded by the Ministry of the Environment, Nature Conservation and Transport of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, the European Regional Development Fund of the European Union, Urban Land and ERDF. NRW
We would like to see the project continue towards realization as soon as possible.
