World's largest 3-sided press for shaped wood put into operation

The press table alone has an enormous depth of 1400 mm, allowing the pressing of extremely large shaped wood components. The impressive clamping force of 600 t, which is equivalent to the weight of approx. 55 buses, guarantees optimum compaction of the material. All press parameters such as temperature, pressure and movement profiles of the press cylinders are stored article-related and are recalled for the next job. This enables us to achieve a high level of process reliability. We are looking forward to new design challenges, which we can solve with this press technology. The first orders have already successfully gone into the serial production on the press.

Formfleece moves into cabinets!

The newly designed ZOW 2018 was a great success for us. All visitors were interested trade professionals and our products got a lot of attention. Among other things, we showed trays made of shaped wood, which were very well received by representatives of international self-service restaurants. Our new Formfleece inserts for drawers for stowing cutlery, kitchen utensils or jewellery in the bedroom attracted a great deal of attention from international cabinet manufacturers, too.

There was also a great demand for acoustic solutions in the office that shield individual workplaces from noise or ceiling elements which improve the overall acoustics in the room, making it quieter overall. Both can be perfectly implemented with Formfleece.

The suppliers’ fair for furniture industry and interior design ZOW in Bad Salzuflen took place for the first time this year under the direction of the Koelnmesse. A total of 171 exhibitors from 16 countries presented themselves on 11,000 sqm of exhibition space. We really liked the new concept with the workshop character, because this puts the focus on the products. In addition, the fair does not cost any entry for visitors. We will be back in two years!

Of course, the focus of our work is the production of an application-oriented molded wood or formfleece product. On the other hand, we recognize that customers are increasingly looking for complete solutions that go beyond pure product performance to best meet their needs. In order to be able to respond even more to these customer preferences, we would like to sensibilize all employees at Becker with our motto for 2018: “Our Goal – Optimum Solutions for the Customer!” and align our entire organization accordingly.

Gerrit Becker and Mario Heiming ensure business succession with continuity

At the turn of the year, we will complete our long-term planned change of generations. On 31 December 2017, Dr. Ralf Becker (65) resigns from his job after 35 years as managing director of the company, which he led in the third generation. In the future he will dedicate himself only to special tasks in the company development. As the main shareholder, he still remains closely associated with the company though.

Together with Günter Schwarz, who retired in 2001, Dr. Ralf Becker led the business to its present significance. The shareholders have always put great emphasis on the fact that the company should be continued and developed like a family business.

With Gerrit Becker and Mario Heiming, the company has already gained two promising young executives since mid-2014. Dr. Ralf Becker’s son Gerrit Becker (31) returned to his home country after completing his master's degree in business administration and spending several years with a well-known car manufacturer. He is responsible for marketing and sales. Mario Heiming (35) is Dipl.-Ing. (FH), Master of Engineering and MBA in business management. He contributes his experience as a technical director at a manufacturer for office and home furniture to his areas:  production and human resources. He has been with the company for three years. The two new managing directors complement each other perfectly, both professionally and personally.

The managing team has great plans. They want to ensure a continuous growth in the coming years. This is to be realised through the development and sales competence in the respective sales regions, through the development of new products as well as through the expansion of the contact with international designers and the international supplier network. In doing so, the management aims to further expand our location in Brakel and create additional jobs for it.

Knows the company in good hands: Dr. Ralf Becker (center) hands over the management of the company to his son Gerrit Becker (left), responsible for marketing and sales, and Mario Heiming, head of production and human resources. photo: Frank Springer

8th Design-Forum: Prototypes inspire INTERZUM visitors

The visitors at the INTERZUM exhibition were surprised: 130 international designers submitted 200 design ideas for the 8th Design-Forum upon our invitation. We were able to present 11 prototypes on a 1:1 scale on our stand in Cologne. The other design ideas were documented in our latest Becker Brief no. 16. The Becker Brief can be provided on request. Please contact us.

The world’s largest supplier exhibition also offers us great opportunities to exhibit and elaborate technical solutions in detail from molded wood and molded felts. This gives customers and designers important impulses for their model development.
